HALO Series

In 2008, EM Acoustics broke new ground launching the HALO small-format line array system. Utilising the latest advancements in drive unit and crossover technology, the HALO series now encompasses a family of scalable line arrays designed around the same maximum headroom principles, and delivering optimum performance from theatres and clubs up to the largest festival and concert tour.

HALO-C

Compact passive line array element

HALO-C contains a 197mm (7.8") AMT high frequency drive unit on a bespoke waveguide, linked via a signature EM Acoustics passive crossover to a high power neodymium 8" (203mm) LF drive unit. Exact drive unit placement, coupled with the crossover topology and waveguide design extends the horizontal coverage pattern to below 1kHz. The true plane wave output of the AMT drive unit and waveguide combination yields a precise, well-behaved vertical pattern allowing seamless array integration and minimising destructive interference between adjacent elements.

The HALO Compact enclosure is constructed from premium multi-laminate birch plywood, and is only 492mm (19.4") wide and 17kg (37.4lbs) in weight. Intelligent bracing design minimises panel flexure, thereby reducing unwanted resonance whilst still keeping the enclosure weight low. The design of the rigging hardware is flexible for use in both flown and ground stacked configurations, and allows arrays of up to 24 elements to be assembled whilst retaining a 10:1 safety factor.

A perforated steel grille backed with acoustically transparent black fabric finishes the enclosure with a sleek but stylish appearance. Two NL4 connections are provided on the rear for input and enclosure link. The enclosure is finished in black or white textured paint as standard, however weather-protection options as well as custom RAL code colours are also available.

HALO-C is ideally powered from the EM Acoustics DQ10 or DQ20 Advanced System Amplifiers, or the AQ-10 power amplifier in conjunction with the DSC48 system controller (for loudspeaker filter slopes and protection) for optimum results.

HALO-CS

Compact passive line array element

The HALO-CS enclosure is the same width as the HALO Compact, and is the equivalent height of two flown or ground-stacked HALO Compact elements. As such, flight casing and truck packing are simple tasks, as cases for HALO-CS subwoofers can easily be made the same height and width as cases with pairs of HALO Compact enclosures.

HALO-CS subwoofers are supplied with a similar rigging system to that on the HALO Compact - a four-point design made from ultra-high tensile Domex steel. HALO-CS enclosures form a stable base for ground stacks without requiring the flying grid. Location holes are provided on the rigging hardware so that the first HALO-C enclosure in the array or ground stack can have either positive or negative angle - for example in a flown configuration, the first HALO-C can be set at anything from 5° uptilt through to 10° downtilt in 1-degree increments.

The HALO-CS enclosure is constructed from premium multi-laminate Birch plywood. Intelligent bracing design minimises panel flexure, thereby reducing unwanted resonance whilst still keeping the enclosure weight low. The enclosure is also supplied as standard with rubber feet on the top (for ground stacking when inverted), matching stacking recesses in the bottom of the enclosure as well as an M20 threaded polemount adapter, and two flush routed bar handles in the sides. A perforated steel grille backed with acoustically transparent black fabric finishes the enclosure with a sleek but stylish appearance.

The enclosure is finished in black or white textured paint as standard, however weather-protection options as well as custom RAL colours are also available by request.

The HALO-CS is ideally powered from the EM Acoustics DQ10 or DQ20 Advanced System Amplifiers, or the AQ-10 or AD-9 power amplifier in conjunction with the DSC48 system controller (for loudspeaker filter slopes and protection) for optimal results.
