Processing and Matirx

The d&b Processing and Network range covers everything from interfaces through to system control.
All the tools required to build an efficient, flexible networked audio system. The d&b system approach begins with the DS10 and DS20 Audio network bridges. Positioned within the signal chain in front of the amplifiers, the DS10 and DS20 distribute Ethernet control data as well as digital audio. The DS100 and its powerful 64 x 64 matrix provides further comprehensive signal processing at all inputs and outputs. For simplified control of a comprehensive system, the R90 Touchscreen remote control functions in harmony with the entire d&b remote network. A complete d&b networked audio solution ensures seamless interoperability and integration with other devices.

four channel d&b amplifiers, providing configurations for smaller d&b loudspeakers as well as a linear mode. For larger applications comprising the A-Series, J-Series, SL-Series, V-Series, the M2 monitor, the B22-SUB and systems which require a higher SPL output, the 30D installation specific amplifier is required. The DSP integrated within the 10D incorporates comprehensive loudspeaker management, switchable filtering functions as well as user definable equalization and delay capabilities. This includes two 16-band equalizers, providing optional parametric, asymmetric, shelving or notch filtering and up to 10 s (= 3440 m/11286 ft) signal delay, all of which can be applied independently to each channel. The 10D is accessible via the d&b Remote network, either via Ethernet using the Open Control Architecture protocol (OCA) or CAN-Bus using RJ45 connectors. The 10D is controlled using the integrated web interface, which enables access via a browser, or using the d&b R1 Remote control software. The device itself contains LEDs to display power, input, data and mute status. The LoadMatch function integrated within the 10D amplifier electrically compensates for the properties of loudspeaker cable used. The 10D incorporates Class D amplifiers utilizing a power supply with active Power Factor Correction (PFC) suitable for mains voltages 100 V/127 V, 50 – 60 Hz and 208 V/240 V, 50 - 60 Hz and maintains a stable output when used with weak or unstable mains supplies. Input and output connectors are all Euroblock sockets.

DS20 Audio network bridge
Z4011.000

DS20 Audio Network Bridge

The DS20 Audio network bridge interfaces between Milan networks and AES3 digital audio signals, while also providing distribution of Ethernet control data. This 1 RU device integrates directly into the d&b system approach, positioned in front of the amplifiers within the signal chain, and is ideally suited to both mobile and installation environments. The DS20 sends metadata including Milan channel labels and cabling information via the AES3 channel stream to the d&b four channel amplifiers. As well as providing an interface from the Milan audio network to the digital inputs of the d&b amplifiers via Ethernet, the DS20 provides four digital AES3 input channels for applications such as a break in from a Front of House console.

The DS20 incorporates a fully AVB-enabled integrated 5-port switch, offering a primary and redundant network for the Milan protocol. This provides extended connectivity for a laptop to control the d&b amplifiers using the R1 Remote control software via the OCA (Open Control Architecture) protocol. Using the DS20 Audio network bridge, audio signals and remote control data can be combined using a single Ethernet cable. The front panel of the DS20 is designed to match the I/O panel of the d&b Touring rack assemblies. This ensures a simple integration within existing system configurations. The DS20 features a power supply suitable for mains voltages 100 V – 240 V, 50 – 60 Hz, with Overvoltage protection of up to 400 V.

DS100 Signal Engine
Z4100.000

DS100 Signal Engine

The DS100 Signal Engine is the hardware, a network controlled and Dante enabled DSP platform that provides comprehensive signal management within the familiar d&b Workflow. It comprises a 64x64 matrix, with delay and level control for all crosspoints and extensive signal processing at all inputs and outputs, integrated in the operating concept of the d&b R1 Remote control software, including grouping of parameters in remote views and storing of scenes in snapshots.
Advanced features within ArrayCalc and R1 simplify the integration of these matrix functions into d&b loudspeaker configurations. From configuring the DS10 Network bridge to preparing an output Dante patch for connecting the speakers. In addition, all functions of the matrix can be controlled via OSC, i. e. they can be remote controlled and automated via this standardized open source protocol for complex applications.

d&b En-Scene

d&b En-Scene is the Soundscape software module for object-based signal management. This extends the basic matrix function of the DS100 with an object-based positioning tool for every input. In addition to the possibility of independent positioning and moving up to 64 sound objects, an algorithm-based control of up to 64 loudspeakers is provided, based on the loudspeaker positions and their assignment to function groups. Each loudspeaker position needs one matrix output. Loudspeaker positions used for En-Scene can be used with the static matrix at the same time. All this can be configured and controlled via ArrayCalc and R1 within the d&b Workflow.
En-Scene also can be controlled via OSC. This enables the integration of object-based positioning via appropriate plug-ins into audio software and show controls or directly into mixing consoles. If En-Scene is installed on the DS100, the user can freely choose which of the 64 input channels of the DS100 should work object-based and which are used for static matrix functions. Both modes of operation can be used simultaneously within a DS100.

d&b En-Space

d&b En-Space is the Soundscape software module to enhance or build an acoustic environment, either indoor or outdoor, based on convolution of the audio signals on a large number of impulse responses captured in acoustically renowned performance spaces ranging from chamber recital to large concert halls.
En-Space applies the unique technology of boundary plane emulation. The room response uses a set of 144 boundary plane responses for 64 positions distributed along the circumference and stage lip of the venue. The sampled responses are taken from boundary measurements at the walls, which is exactly the location from where the En-Space loudspeaker sources will later reproduce them.
En-Space is an in-line technology, meaning to generate or expand the acoustic environment it does not use microphone feedback loops. It can be set up and operated quickly, making access to some of the world's most renowned performance spaces a reality for mobile or installation situations.

R90 Touchscreen remote control
Z6126.000

R90 Touchscreen remote control

The R90 Touchscreen remote control simplifies the general operation of a d&b system. The 7” panel PC grants any user, regardless of technical ability, with one-touch control of over predefined functions – power, mute, level, grouping and recall of up to nine AmpPresets. All control functions in R90 work independently of R1, eliminating the possibility of accidentally altering system settings.
The R90 is easily integrated in any d&b system up to 15 amplifiers without the need to program additional control protocols. A remote application can also be used on additional devices such as smartphones or tablets connected to the same network. Setup and configuration of R90 project settings can be accomplished quickly and easily, after which everyday activities can be managed without a technician present. The R90 touchscreen control expands the d&b system solution approach, simplifying general operation of even the most sophisticated sound setup.
Based on a Beckhoff PC, featuring a powerful 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor suitable for control of any d&b audio installation.
The R1 Remote control software is the virtual centre of any d&b Remote network, be it from a laptop in the control room, mix position or somewhere in the auditorium. Its intuitive user interface ensures efficient planning, unlocking the full potential of the d&b system approach.
