Subwoofers

d&b subwoofers come in all shapes and sizes: whether large or small, permanently installed or mobile, flown or ground stacked, they provide frequency extension suitable for any sound reinforcement application.
The extensive family of d&b subwoofers are engineered to provide precisely matched low frequency extension to d&b loudspeaker systems. The range delivers solutions for all potential applications from the largest to the smallest, whether flown or ground stacked. Some models, including the V-SUB, Y-SUB, B4-SUB, 27S-SUB and 27A-SUB, are driven by a single amplifier channel but exhibit a cardioid dispersion pattern. They provide directivity control at low frequencies, whilst keeping the amplifier channel count low. Others, such as the B6-SUB and B22-SUB are inherently omnidirectional. When operated in multiples of three they can be configured as a Cardioid Subwoofer Array, providing exceptional low frequency directivity control. Two amplifier channels, providing remarkable cardioid control over the low frequency while delivering efficient maximum output power, drive the most powerful d&b subwoofers.

B4 Subwoofer
Z0610.001

B4 Subwoofer

The B4-SUB is an actively driven cardioid subwoofer powered by a single amplifier channel. It houses two long excursion neodymium drivers in an integrated cardioid setup: a 15" driver in a bass-reflex design facing to the front and a 12" driver in a two chamber bandpass design radiating to the rear. The cardioid dispersion pattern resulting from this approach avoids unwanted energy behind the system that greatly reduces the reverberant field at low frequencies and provides the greatest accuracy of low frequency reproduction. The B4 subwoofer can only be used in a ground stacked setup. The B4-SUB cabinet is constructed from marine plywood, has an impact and weather resistant paint finish and a pair of handles. An M20 threaded flange in the top panel accepts the d&b Loudspeaker stand winder M20. The loudspeaker cabinet is also available in Special Colour (SC) options.

B6 Subwoofer
Z0710.001

B6 Subwoofer

The B6-SUB is a high performance subwoofer designed for ground stacked applications, housing a long excursion 18” driver built into a bass-reflex design. When three or any multiple of three B6-SUBs are used, they can be positioned in a Cardioid Subwoofer Array with one cabinet physically facing backwards and driven by an amplifier channel with CSA mode selected. This achieves exceptional directivity control in lower frequencies and significantly reduces the energy radiating towards to the rear. The cabinet is constructed from marine plywood and has an impact and weather protected PCP (Polyurea Cabinet Protection) finish. The front of the loudspeaker cabinet is protected by a rigid metal grill backed by an acoustically transparent foam, whilst the side panels incorporate two handles. Four wheels are mounted to the rear and the enclosure features two runners to protect the bottom panel from scratching. Two correspondingly shaped recesses are incorporated into the top panel of each cabinet to accept these runners, preventing cabinet movement when stacked. An M20 threaded flange in the top panel accepts the d&b Loudspeaker stand winder M20. An optional transport lid protects the front of the subwoofer during transit.

SL-GSUB Subwoofer
Z0761.000

SL-GSUB Subwoofer

The SL-SUB and SL-GSUB are cardioid subwoofers to compliment the GSL and KSL Systems. The SL-SUB rigging hardware allows columns of up to 14 cabinets to be flown while the SL-GSUB is intended for ground stacked applications only. Both subwoofers are actively driven 2-way bass-reflex designs housing three long excursion 21" neodymium drivers. Two drivers face to the front while one radiates to the rear. The front and rear facing drivers operate in independent bass reflex chambers and are driven from separate amplifier channels. The cardioid dispersion pattern reduces unwanted energy behind the system, resulting in less excitation of the reverberant field to deliver highly accurate low frequency reproduction. The frequency response extends from 33 - 84 Hz / 30 - 65 Hz. The SL-SUB cabinet incorporates front and rear rigging strands while the SL-GSUB has no rigging components and is intended for ground stack purposes. The cabinets are constructed from marine plywood with an impact and weather protected PCP (Polyurea Cabinet Protection) finish. The front and rear of the subwoofers are protected by rigid metal grills backed by an acoustically transparent and water repellent fabric. Two runners extend from the front to rear to protect the bottom panel. Each side panel incorporates two handles, whilst the top panel has an M20 high stand flange inserted.

Y Subwoofer

The Y-SUB is an actively driven cardioid subwoofer powered by a single amplifier channel. It houses two long excursion neodymium drivers in an integrated cardioid setup, an 18” driver in a bass-reflex chamber facing to the front and a 12” driver in a two chamber bandpass design radiating towards the rear. The cardioid dispersion pattern resulting from this arrangement avoids the distribution of energy behind the system, providing the greatest accuracy of low frequency reproduction and reducing the energy dispersed into unwanted areas. The Y-SUB is fitted with three point rigging hardware and can be flown in a column of purely Y subwoofers, at the top of a Y array or used in a ground stacked setup. The cabinet is constructed from marine plywood and has an impact and weather protected PCP (Polyurea Cabinet Protection) finish. The front of the loudspeaker cabinet is protected by a rigid metal grill backed by an acoustically transparent foam, whilst the side panels incorporate two handles with four wheels mounted to the rear. An optional transport lid protects the front of the subwoofer during transit.
